Family Cottage
Location: Scarborough

Build a new version of a vintage family cottage with cutting-edge green construction.
Owned by three sisters, this residence is up the street from the original family cottage. The new construction’s location allows the family to have more room while still maintaining close ties to their vacation community. In order to stay true to the original family cottage, the sisters wanted certain details of the original cottage carried over to the new cottage including pine interior trim and a custom interior stone fireplace.
Because of the homeowner’s association construction restrictions, we performed the work in the specified months. “It was an exceptional experience- really one of my life’s highlights- to build such a beautiful home in a cherished setting. A legacy for our family in the community we vacation in.”
They opted for some newer, green additions like a small solar collector to generate domestic hot water. Wright-Ryan Homes builds numerous sustainable homes, which allows clients like the owners of this new family cottage to gain access to the latest research, materials and approaches to green construction.
