Spurwink Retreat, by Wright-Ryan

A beautiful oceanfront retreat featuring a spectacular natural landscape with a panoramic ocean view.

Tour the one-of-a-kind property here through video.  A young family spend most of their lives living the high-rise experience in NYC.  Take a couple minutes and lose yourself in their magical Maine retreat that is beautifully designed and finely crafted.

The oceanfront retreat is expansive, single-level living at its best.  The large floor to ceiling doors and windows offer views and sounds of the open Atlantic Ocean.  The exposed wood ceiling, truss system and natural slate floors complete the contemporary look the young couple was trying to achieve in the main living area.  The space opens directly to both the ocean and a private courtyard which connects the main home to the guest house and garage – complete with “man cave”.

Wright-Ryan’s Millwork shop was hired by the owners to add a custom, high-end interior finish to the retreat.  The custom built kitchen offers minimalist and almost hidden storage for the family’s pantry needs.  The bathroom vanities are floating (much like the cantilevered granite fireplace hearth) and the ladders to the kids “secret” play areas and quiet time reading nooks were added after inspiration struck our on-site superintendent.

Nickel gap wood lines the walls of the sleeping quarters and the grain is carefully aligned so that the flow is uninterrupted.  These details often go unnoticed but are instrumental to making this retreat truly a spectacular home for generations.
