Show off clever storage solutions with custom kitchen cabinetry
This home on the cliffs of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, has spectacular views of the ship channel. The window seats provide the perfect spot to relax and watch the fisherman go by, and the window seats are deep enough to serve as an extra guest bed. Clever features like this show up in every corner of this house.
The kitchen, also overlooking the channel, has “tiger striped” wood that was carefully matched to achieve an uninterrupted striped look. The custom kitchen cabinetry is especially ingenious. Display glass paneled doors grace the built-in cabinets built into the front of the kitchen island. Wright-Ryan Millwork built a television stand that could easily retract into a table when it was not in use. Flat paneled cabinet doors exercise restraint, remaining simple enough to let the real life of the party—the detailed grain of the wood—to show off.
